naga-viper pepper

Worlds hottest chili!

The Naga Viper pepper has just become the world’s hottest pepper. The previous king, Bhut Jolokai is calmer by over 300,000 Scoville units.

This naga measures 1,359,000 SHUs (Scoville Heat Units). This means that it must be diluted in sugar 1,359,000 times to be undetected by taste. Jalapeños typically land around 2,500 – 5,000 on the Scoville scale. Sweet bell peppers have a rating of zero.

The scale was developed by an american chemist names Wilbur Scoville in 1912.
